Makri Street lies in Makrygianni, immediately south of Plaka and below the Acropolis. The surrounding pedestrian-friendly streets contain Greek restaurants, cafés, bakeries, souvenir shops and small supermarkets. Dionysiou Areopagitou promenade, the Acropolis Museum and several archaeological sites are within a few minutes’ walk. Akropoli metro station is approximately 150 metres away and provides Line 2 services towards Syntagma, Omonia and the main railway connections. Airport journeys require a change to Metro Line 3 at Syntagma. Central Athens is highly walkable from the hotel, although summer heat can make afternoon sightseeing tiring.

• Acropolis Museum – approximately 300 metres: The modern museum displays sculptures and archaeological finds recovered from the Acropolis and its surrounding slopes.
• Hadrian’s Arch – approximately 300 metres: This Roman-era gateway once marked the boundary between ancient and Roman Athens.
• Temple of Olympian Zeus – approximately 400 metres: The remaining monumental columns illustrate the scale of one of the ancient city’s largest temples.
• Plaka – approximately 400 metres: Athens’ historic neighbourhood contains pedestrian lanes, traditional houses, tavernas, shops and small museums.
• Acropolis entrance – approximately 700 metres: The archaeological site includes the Parthenon, Erechtheion, Temple of Athena Nike and panoramic city views.
• Odeon of Herodes Atticus – approximately 750 metres: The restored Roman theatre hosts selected concerts and performances during the Athens festival season.
• National Garden – approximately 800 metres: Shaded paths and planted grounds provide a quieter walking route beside central Athens.
• Syntagma Square – approximately 900 metres: The central square is known for Parliament, the ceremonial guard and major transport connections.

• Book Acropolis admission in advance and visit early in the morning to reduce exposure to heat and peak visitor numbers.
• Use Akropoli station for Line 2 journeys, changing at Syntagma for direct Metro Line 3 services to the airport.
• Avoid bringing a car unless necessary, as the hotel has no on-site parking and nearby streets have restrictions.
• Walk along Dionysiou Areopagitou towards the Acropolis and Philopappos Hill for a route with limited vehicle traffic.
• Reserve popular Plaka and Makrygianni restaurants during summer evenings, weekends and major holiday periods.

April to June and September to October generally provide comfortable conditions for walking between archaeological sites. July and August are hot, dry and busy, so early-morning visits and afternoon breaks are advisable. November to March is cooler and occasionally wet but usually quieter for museums and historic landmarks. Easter and major public holidays may affect opening hours, public transport and restaurant availability.
